XII (The Twelfth) is a multi game clan who's history extends back many years. To start at the beginning, XII was formally founded in January of 2007 as an answer to the en-mass groups not worth the time of day that several of us had put up with over the series of a few years. It was decided that with the right set of members and the right layout there was no reason a successful gaming group could not be put together with the ideal of a non top down type structure. Not to mention be maintained as such indefinitely and so with that in mind, XII was in the works.
As mentioned previously some of our individual roots extend back much further then the formal founding. Most of our players have even been playing side by side for many years and some since as early as 2001. This unity and familiarity enabled us to form the core very quickly. In fact, it was almost overnight from a idea into reality. Everyone was very motivated and wanted to help as much as they could. This mentality still is present with us - as well as a part of the clan structure. None of us were really big on the "Top Down" idea. Almost every organization out there runs this way and to tell the truth we just are not impressed with any of them. With the long history of the initial core members this enabled us to structure the entire clan around the idea of "Self Efficiency" and put that into practice. Sure there is a structure, but each one of our members knows they have a say and that say actually counts for more then hot air like what you find in other similar groups. We have what we call "Clan Administrators" being those that choose to take on or have historically been involved with certain areas. Their individual expertise then enables that section of the administrative duty to be take care of without worry. When a new area arises someone simply takes responsibility for it that is qualified. When someone else needs help, people just step up and do it. No asking, no appointing persay, just willingness and action. This utopian structure is hard to maintain for sure, but we have managed to do so for several years now and with our continued strict recruitment qualifications / process, we see no reason it will ever change.
One of the ways we went about bringing this ideal into action was the initial recruitment goals of the clan. This was to bring in players who had family, jobs and other outside goals. Mature players who's ability in game was matched by ability outside of that context. Players who know what commitment is and who know how to pitch in when it is called for without being asked. And so, with this goal in mind, XII started to obtain players of exemplary talent and diverse origins. We like to look for members that have excelled in their other commitments and have ended up bringing these talents into our game settings as well. |
